The pandemic shook the blinders off a multi-generational productivity lie.

Our story.

Wisdom was founded by Melissa Herron as she experienced the juggling act of work and life with two school-aged sons during the pandemic. The daily sense of failure both personally and professionally ultimately drove her to prioritize her family over her career.

“I was spending 8-10 hour a day, 5 days a week, in Teams meetings. It meant that most of the actual work that needed to get done didn’t begin until the evening or on the weekends. Working from home just meant that we were expected to be on-call at all hours of the day. All of this while helping my kids with online school. Nothing was getting done well, and the pace was not sustainable. The constant feeling of failure was overwhelming, and I finally decided it was time for change.”

Melissa is not alone in seeking a career change in the wake of the pandemic. Women's ambition has increased since the pandemic, with flexibility playing a crucial role. Women across career stages share similar aspirations for career advancement as men. Young women, in particular, exhibit strong ambition, with the majority aiming for promotions and senior leadership roles. However, gender disparities persist in C-suite leadership, where women represent only one in four, and women of color are even less represented at one in 16. Notably, the pandemic and increased flexibility have not hindered women's ambition, with roughly 80% desiring promotion to the next level. Women of color show even higher ambition, with 88% aiming for promotions. Flexibility enables women to pursue their ambitions, helping many maintain their roles or avoid reduced hours. Hybrid and remote work also reduce fatigue and burnout while providing focused work time. Women have embraced a new work-life balance model, rejecting the outdated idea that career and personal life are incompatible.

Wisdom is committed to helping more women find their voices at work. We are committed to keeping more women in the workplace. Above it all, we are committed to pushing for systemic change that will finally allow women to work like women and not have to act like “the man” to get ahead.

Wisdom is committed to giving back to the community and will donate 5% of yearly net-profits to organizations helping women thrive in the workplace.
